The Google Pixel 4 featured a 5.7-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ (1080 x 2280 pixels) resolution. The display offered vibrant colours, deep blacks, and a 90Hz refresh rate, providing smoother animations and scrolling. The Pixel 4 was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor, providing flagship-level performance. It came with 6 GB of RAM, allowing for smooth multitasking and app performance. The device had two storage options: 64 GB and 128 GB variants, but there was no microSD card slot for expandable storage. The Pixel 4 continued Google’s emphasis on camera quality and computational photography.

Moreover, it featured a dual-camera setup on the back: a 12.2-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), and phase detection autofocus, and a 16-megapixel telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture. Google’s software processing enhanced its photography capabilities, including features like Night Sight for low-light photography. Furthermore, the front-facing camera was an 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. It supported features like portrait mode, depth sensing, and facial recognition for secure unlocking. The Pixel 4 housed a 2800 mAh battery, considered relatively modest for a flagship device. The 90Hz display could impact battery life, but software optimizations aimed to balance performance and longevity. Out of the box, the Pixel 4 ran on Android 10 with a clean and stock Android experience.

It received regular updates directly from Google. The smartphone featured stereo speakers for improved audio quality. It lacked a 3.5mm headphone jack and relied on USB Type-C audio. The Pixel 4 introduced a secure face unlock feature using advanced facial recognition technology. It also featured Motion Sense, which used radar to detect gestures for controlling specific actions without touching the device. Lastly, the Soli radar chip enabled the Pixel 4’s Motion Sense and face unlock capabilities, a unique feature among smartphones. It supported 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and GPS. The Pixel 4 had a glass and aluminium body construction with a square camera module on the back. Overall, the Google Pixel 4 continued the brand’s focus on camera excellence and introduced new technologies like Motion Sense and the Soli radar chip to enhance user experience.
